The best books on lighting: creative and technical.

Cinematography: Theory and Practice by Blain Brown = must read for cinematography.

Box's book is still regarded as the best book on lighting. I've read the older version from the library, and it really does have everything you could need.

Thanks for that. Looks good.

A reviewer of the Brown book mentioned the following that looks really good too...
[h=1]The Filmmaker's Eye: Learning (and Breaking) the Rules of Cinematic Composition[/h]
I might also buy The Five Cs of Cinematography for the classic manual that it is.

Thanks again! I'm off to order some books...

I'm not a dp - though I love reading all the books on the subject as a director - but I must say the five c's of cinematography - covered stuff just left out of other books. Brown book is good :)
personally im chomping at the bit eagerly awaiting the coffee table sized book on gordon willis that the editor of cinematography magazine is almost finished writing. Wow....
