The best 50mm for the 5D Mark 2

Thats why I love the Zeiss ze /zf... Thry are so damn easy to pull focus on compared to my canon zooms.
Absolutely. I have gotten used to some AF lenses, but they are different worlds. The ZE/ZF feel is so much better.

In hand held work, I prefer stills lenses to Cine ones, because I can focus easier while operating.

My advice is buy once, cry once

You already spent money on the 50mm f1.8, now you have to buy a mid range, and later when you have more money most likely will want the best money can buy. The problem is that you keep spending and wasting your money. If you keep all the old ones it's a waste. If you sell the old ones you lost money. The only right thing to do is to buy all the best equipment and never buy something that you like - but wish you had the best... that feeling sucks. You may have to wait a little while, but trust me, I own the F1.2L and I absolutely love it. When I borrowed a F1.4 is tax nice - don't get me wrong, but the F1.2 is just - I can't explain it in words - it's like butter.... it's bokeh is amazing and the shallow depth of field is only rivaled by the 85mm F1.2L - which I had but returned because of a defect just a few weeks ago.

I own a 5D3 and like you I wanted something better quality wise - So I saved up, sold some things and got a Sony F55. Trust me when I say that the 5D3 is a great camera that gives pretty good video. I haven't owned the F55 for very long, but whats nice about it is that you can put it on your shoulder and shoot. I purchased mine used because new it was out of reach. Even used it was expensive
