the beach ball!

I have edited a few projects on X, 2 films and the rest videography projects, and I do like it a lot after I learned it. However, a lot of the times the dreaded 'beach ball' will start spinning if I select a clip, move the mouse around etc...I have a new iMac 27", so I was thinking, could it be my harddrives that are causing the issue? Usually fter I re-start the system, it'll work properly again. Thanks for any help...

seagate FW800/USB 2.0

2 of them, one I use for videography projects, the other, films. Each one is 2tb.

I would disable automatic rendering, a lot of the crashes I experienced on that iMac happened when I was trying to resume work while a render was in progress. With it disabled, most of my crashes have stopped.

That being said, your specific problem doesn't sound related, but I would at least give it a shot (in addition to the usual repair permissions and reset PRAM/NVRAM fixes).

hendosan,
reset PRAM/NVRAM fixes

Can you explain how to reset the above? Thanks for the reply.

**I did find a few sites that show how to reset....
