The basics: SHUTTER SPEEDS

Hello all DVXERS,

I'm pretty sure I understand the concept of shutter speeds, but I'm not sure if I'm sure... if someone well knowledgable would like to jump in here and give a basic breakdown that would be very cool.

QUESTIONS: What is the best shutter speed for the film look? What is the best shutter for fast motion? What is the best shutter for slow motion? What is the best shutter when shooting a scene with both, fast and slow motion? In 24PA mode what would the shutter speeds available be used for and why? What is the most common shutter used? What would be the shutter to start off with?

Please give examples...

I bought the book Im only a quarter the way in, but I could not find a specific page # with that detailed info. I will look harder today.
