End of April we spent 5 days of riding the trails around Madeira, a fantastic little island in the atlantic. We were lucky to have John Fernandes from freeridemadeira.com as our bike guide. He showed us the best trails, best places to eat and where to have poncha .... but this is a separate story ...
Riders: Emil, Harry, Joe, Oli, Philipp and Gunther.
Shot on a Sony A7s II, with a Sigma 24mm f1.4 ART, Rokinon 85mm T1.5, a DJI Phantom 4 Drone and a couple of GoPro's. Drone pilot Philipp Heck.
Color grading in Davinci Resove 12.5

Amazing what one can accomplish with relatively modest tools these days. Nicely shot and cut. Maintains that downhill momentum.
I'd like to know more about your post workflow in Resolve. Did you transcode footage to Prores or some other mezzanine codec for editing and CC? Edit in Resolve or some other app.

Hi Razz, thanks for your comment. My workflow was unconventional insofar as I first color graded the Sony H264 footage in Resolve. I shot everything in 4k, but exported the graded clips from Resolve as 1080p DNXHD (4:2:2 8bit) files. These files I then edited and finalized the film in Adobe Premiere CC. I know that you typically would roundtrip from Premiere to Resolve, but under windows the audio of the Sony H264 clips is not supported in Resolve. Thats an obstacle which somewhat inhibts that roundtripping.

Mate....as a fellow mtber (currently rocking an ibis mojo HD) and an A7sII I was hugely impressed on a few fronts, it's actually similar to a small project I am working on at the moment, capturing that 'bike trip' feel....very inspiring well done!
saw on another thread you shot this in slog2 with sgamt3 and didn't use a LUT...is that right? Keen to hear more about your colouring process? What profile were you using for the slow mo stuff? Were you shooting in 50/60? And finally how do you find the yeti vs the nomad :)

Thanks Ian - yes, I shot most of it in SLOG2 SGamut3.cine and graded it without a LUT in Resolve. I always use 5200K as a daylight white balance, because the colors feel more vivid that way. In Resolve I basically adjusted highlights and shadows, removed some of the green tint and added saturation. The slomo shots are done in 1080p120 with the Cine4 profile, as the image in slog would get very noisy in 120fps.
Last but not least, the Nomad rules ;-)
