The anamorphic adapter

Hello. I'm contemplating the possibility of my 20min. short being seen on a theater size screen. Is the anamorphic adapter for the DVX100A absolutely neccessary or is a way to get 16:9 without it? Thanks Craig

I haven't tried it personally, but I hear shooting 16:9 Letterbox and using Photozoom Pro to uprez the footage will also get you good results, but I have noticed that the uprezzing process amplifies the noise.

Using the anamorphic adapter is not as difficult as it seems. The biggest pain in the ass when using it (in my opinion) is having to make sure the lens is sitting straight. if someone bumbs the camera and you don't realize, it could ruin your footage. Also I use the DVX book for focusing it, but I've also noticed that the apeture chart is very modest. I've gotten fine results using a set f/stop without using the combinations desgnated in the book.

The anamorphic adaper is also a huge expense.
