the AF101 with the Nikon 80-200mm 2.8? Too heavy?

I prefer the wider range of the sigma 50-150 2.8, unfortunately it is discontinued but you can still find them on ebay.

Wider range? Nikkor 80-200mm (120mm range) vs. Sigma 50-150mm (100mm range). Hmm...
:)

I think the Sigma 50-150mm is not a constant f2.8, I feel the main reason to go for the Nikon 80-200 is that it is a constant f2.8 and has a aperture ring. I have an Nikon 80-200 f2.8 push pull and find it very sharp, not only on the AF100 but also on Nikon D3. I shoot some sport with it and the advantage of the push pull is that you can very quickly reframe when shooting stills. The later model where you turn the zoom would probably be better for video. I use the redrock rails and lens support with it.

The sigma is a constant 2.8, and the most usefull range on the zoom for me is from 50-80mm when I am shooting interviews, and even them I am having to back off from the subject a little bit. I guess if your doing sports and nature stuff the 80-200 is good but for interiors I like having a little extra wide angle.
