The 5 Most Essential After Effects Plugins

A lot depends on what you are doing with AE. I do a lot of color-grading and restoral work, so I need noise reduction (like Neat Video), and color tweaking (Colorista or Finesse.) Your list currently seems aimed at motion graphics and maybe "special-effects," so you may want to add Twixtor, tinderbox or the Tiffen package to your list.

I absolutely LOVE playing with all the new features that some of the plug-in packages provide. But I find my work is better and faster if I spend time to thoroughly learn the ins-and-out of one or two plugins, rather than spending lots of time and money on many different ones.

Levels, fast blur, curves, hue-sat... I've been replacing a lot of dead looking skies lately though!

I am pretty amazed at what you can do with particular as you get to know it. I was about to buy element, but I'm intrigued over the inclusion of 4d lite with AE CC.

It varies quite a lot on the type of project:

Awesome, thanks for sharing guys. I agree, a lot changes based on the type of work that you're doing.

If you want 3D text or vector extrusion (logos, etc.), Element is a wizard. For the simple 3d text it's totally worth.
