The 4th Beast is done!

Re: The 4th Beast is done!

its not about supporting the kid you dipshit. i fully support him and i think he's got great ideas and ambitions. it was a simple question. things are different where im from.

Re: The 4th Beast is done!

...just a suggestion but since this is a pretty unknown work by unknown people you might want to suggest to the producer that :

instead of lowering the customer base by charging so much for a unheard of independent production, and selling A SMALL AMOUNT of copies to make X amount of dollars.
- he might want to consider lowering the cost to something that alot of people would be much more willing to pay to purchase and unknown independent production, and very likely sell ALOT of copies and make the same or more than the X amount of dollars, and also greatly increase the distribution of the film in the same move. which means that alot more people wil have heard of him when he makes his next film, and perhaps be willing to pay a bit more for the next film since he will be a bit more established if the current work were to be a bit better known/distributed.

im not saying the finished film isnt worth the suggested price. i just asaying that alot of times what something is worth , and what people are willing to pay are 2 very differnent things. you have to market a product to the buyer based on its perxieved value.. not its logistical value.. there are really 2 ways to make the money back.. few sales, and high price, or many sales at a low price.. imho the producer should take the second route on this one.. because hen you follow either thoery to a logical extreme.. he would probably rather have 100,000 people buy the film at 1 dollar profit price after cost than 1 person buy the film at 100,000 over cost..

just as well the first of the two is much more likely to happen.

..anyway. whatever he diecides, let me know when the final product is available.

Not everybody has working parents to support them so they can go work at a grocery store and spend all the cash on whatever the hell they want...

No offense

your parents don't work? my parents dont support me either. LLOZ DEY D-NT EV3N PAI CH1LD SPPR0T! not. i don't want to make this an argument but i'm a pharmacy tech and get paid a lot more than kids my age. thats why i pay my phone bill, my internet, my food, my clothes and whatever the hell i want. sure, you could say OMFG LOZLUR SO STUPID U D0NT P4Y FER R3NT!!. youre right, usually when parents have kids, they expect them to live in the house until they're 18. i figure 12$ is the price of a god damn cd, i don't care if i allready downloaded the whole thing, i'll still buy it to suport the artist. i will NOT buy it if they don't need support (ie everything thats played on the radio) and the same could be said about purchasing films. someone here once donated 50$ to my production company, and they didn't get anything out of it but the satisfaction of what they were doing it for. Ok, i'll buy the DVD for 12$, never open it and give it to you for free, is that what you want? you're all penny-pinchers who only care about themselves.

Re: The 4th Beast is done!

haha. penny pinchers. i'm not even going to argue with someone so childish. you need good people skills in this industry- and i can already see thats something you dont have. with an attitude like that, you'll get nowhere.

Re: The 4th Beast is done!

are you joking? god, i won't even argue with you. LLOZZ U CAN T3LL I G0T PPL SKILZ ON TEH INT3rNT

Re: The 4th Beast is done!

We're all penny-pinchers who only care about ourselves?  I said no offense, I just said something about my life in relation to yours, and you throw a hissy fit.

I don't want this to turn into a fl4m3z0r w4r!!111oneone

However,
No, my parents don't work, notice the plurality... My dad is MIA. My mom however does work, but that doesn't mean I dont pay for: Haircuts, food, school supplies, help out with rent etc. The only reason I can be on a computer and have a camera (canon zr60) is because I am sponsored by a local arts center. 12$ is alot of money, that can buy you plenty of used clothes, and with winter coming up that's what I'm going to have to do.

I don't mean to go on a rant, but demanding that people buy this DVD and telling them to STFU and then flaming me when I try to be reasonable...

I won't go any further (ie: Attacking you personally) because I think I've made my point and I don't really need to call names to enlarge my e-penis.

Good Game

Re: The 4th Beast is done!

give me a break, let me get out my violin. and zach, i'd love to know where you are in PA so i could send you the DVD with a box of tissues, free of charge.

jesus guys just buy the 1295 one and support the kid, and if you wont, stfu.

you're attacking the guy, honestly, WTF. im not demanding ****, i don't even know who he is, either buy it, dont buy it, or make a comment of validity like iamloser did. Or shut up.

Re: The 4th Beast is done!

And to get this thread back on track...

This looks like a great film, and I would rent it if you could strike a deal with hollywood video in the midwest...

Re: The 4th Beast is done!

lol@ attacking the guy. we just have different opinions. you're just one of those people who only cares about their own opinion. i think nathyn is doing well, in fact i specifically said so. but noooo, we cant have our own opinions? whatever dude. oh, and i dont see why i would need a box of tissues? i dont think i made the impression that i was sad crying or whining. but hey, monte's right- grow that e-penis. no one around here cares.

Thank you. We've got no deals yet but we do have an internet store you can get it from. Amazon has it in their "z-shops" if we sell enough maybe Netflix will be be interested. I'm trying to get as many people to hook it up as possible to push it into the spotlight at customflix.

I wanted to charge $9.95 for this edition and $15.95 for the master edition but the store takes $9.00 off the top plus and additional 5% so we have to sale enough over price. We only make about two bucks per DVD. I could sale for $9.95 but I'd have to make sure there would be at least 50 sales per month and that I can't do. The store would even be iffy about doing that.

Re: The 4th Beast is done!

Wow, this has turned into a strange topic.
I know that for some people $20 is a lot, for others it isn't, for example, my wife and I are both college students and for me, a $20 DVD is nothing ( I know how much work goes into these things) but for my wife, well, that's another story. Nathyn, I'll definatly be interested in your Master edition ($20bucks or not, don't tell my wife ;D), I love behind the scenes stuff. You'll have to let us know when it's available.

I do have a suggestion though, dump this online store, sounds like a ripoff. They take $9 off the top of a DVD-R. That's pretty nuts. I say you allready have a good word of mouth with this site, can't you just make and sell your own DVD-R's from your house? Maybe give the DVXusers a deal and sell it for $15.95, and you pocket 85% of that, instead of pocketing only 15-20%. I don't know if you have some kind of contract going on with this store, but for all the work you've put into this thing that really doesn't sound right, unless the store can guarantee YOU GET SALES. They should be working for you, not the other way around.

Just ask jared how many DVD's he's sold for $12 a pop, just on this site. Hell I have even seen the DVX Labs DVD on ebay, go figure.

All I'm saying is that you do have other options, and that store really does not sound like they care how many dvd's you sell.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Re: The 4th Beast is done!

I am interested in alternatives to Customflix. I want to outsource the DVD production and order / shipping / billing process, but at a lower rate that $9 / DVD. Anyone have suggestions?

Re: The 4th Beast is done!

They're the only ones who seem to be offering this service. The problem is if you don't have a $2000 multiple burner, you have to burn 1 DVD at a time so this becomes time consuming and you can never use your computer.

And Customflix does care how many DVDs you sale because it's how they really make their money. Even after set up. It's a good deal if you can get the customers. For the packaging and professionalism it's worth it. I saw my proof copy and was blown away. I aiming at distributors too.

I don't think $12.95 is so bad for a DVD with a few extras. We've got a few sales so far but nothing major. I'm going to try some promotional tricks though and see what happens. And as for you guys you'll get to see the DVX100 in action as always. This whole flick was shot with a DVX100. People definitely love the trailer. (The trailer's got 40 more hits than the store).

Re: The 4th Beast is done!

there is another resource for online movie distribution - www.dataflix.com. I keep telling myself that one day movies will be streamed or downloaded for viewing rather than rental DVD or any other physical medium. :-/
