I picked one up to try out on my HVX and it works pretty good.

Today I said lets see if my Redrock M2 would work on it

It is a little heavy on my chest, but if I run a support rod to a belt that might lower the weight a little.

Just thought it was cool and a cheap alternative.

That's good to see...I have one very similar and was thinking of trying to get a Redrock follow focus on it with a GH1. (Not so front heavy with the GH1). Breathing is a bit weird, though...yeah...gotta hold your breath in some instances...

hmmm wouldn't the support on your chest show up in the image... I mean when you breath the camera would move up and down wouldn't it?

i have been hearing alot about this product, been giving huge thought towards venturing to adorama to try it with my 7d.May have to make a few adjustments but i think its worth giving a try.

It is heavy on your chest and breathing does affect movement. The solution im looking for is a replacement support in the front section going to a belt.

However I think adding a counter balance to the rear may also limit pressure on the chest.

Yeah, I've been thinking about drilling some holes in back or finding a way to mount weights to it. I'm already using a strange clamp with a mini ball head on it (I think they call it a table top tripod) to mount my zoom H4n and I'm curious if I can mount a follow focus. The breathing thing ends up not being an issue for most shots...you balance with your hands, etc.

I made a similar mount a couple years ago when I first got my HVX. The trick was Definitely to put some weight on the backside.

Sooo, I had some Anton Bauer Bricks from my Betacam, and some left-over Anton Battery Mounts off other older cameras that are no longer among the living.

I drilled a hole in the back of the shoulder mount, took apart the battery mount and drilled a mounting hole in it. Bolted that to the rear bracket of shoulder mount, and stuck a Battery on it.

I don't know if this helps because you need allot of these spare parts, but, I thought I would throw in my two cents. The14.4v NiMH Anton Bricks probably weigh 5 or 6 lbs. That was enough to offset the front weight, and do it with DC power purpose.

I was able to utilize the power from that batter to power everything from my Camera, to the light, to my Lectro Radio Units. Very handy Indeed!!.

In the end, I found myself wondering if I would have just been better off buying a shoulder cam. The irony of it all,... I was so happy to lose the 25lb Betacam parrot on my shoulder, as soon as I got something smaller, I worked like hell to put the weight back on.

How's the old saying go?.... don't know what ya got until it's.... (heavy again??)
