Thank You Mr. Dashwood, Just One More Question

First a primer:

That is what the custom mount is for.

Have you checked out the prices?

mini35: $7455
PLmount: $250
Nikon Mount: $375
Canon EF Mount: $375
HD100 Connecting kit: $2500
accessory package: $3790-4990

And then you still need to buy your lens.

I'm confused by that part... you mean to say I could just get a Nikon Mount for 375 and a Nikon Lens Prime/Zoom and attach it directly to the HD100?

P+S sell any lens connector kit you need: Arri PL, Nikon, Panavision, Leica, Zeiss-Contax or Canon EF."

I'm confused as to the total number of things one would need to buy...

If I wanted to use a nikon lens, you're saying I could just get a nikon mount and not bother with the P+S and still achieve a shallow depth of field? Or am I misunderstanding something.

P.S. Thank you Mr. Dashwood for taking the time to explain this to an old/young fart like me.

The Nikon mount I referred to is for the P+S mini35.

So you will need:
-mini35
-one type of mount (your choice - depends on what type of lens you will use)
-HD100 connecting kit
-accessory package (optional - two flavours available.)
-lens or lenses of your choice

Mr. Dashwood

What can I do to achieve a cinematic shallow depth of field for just 2,000? If this is a camera with interchangeable lenses there must be a simpler answer than spending over 10k to achieve shallow depth of field... Can someone please throw me a bone?

You can pull off shallow depth of field with the HD-100's stock lens. Move the camera back, open up the aperature (apply ND filter as necessary), zoom in (about 60%) and focus with precision. You can also try a macro shot and see how that suit's you.

The DOF attributes of the stock lens are pretty decent. What get's in the way is the CA if you zoom in too much.

Battery Question Mr. Dashwood

Battery Question Mr. Dashwood

Those 5 hour batteries you very graciously tipped me to... What's the model name I tried searching for 88whr swit batteries but came up with nothing... Did you order them online? Or in the real world? Through a shop or a dealer? I'm very interested in this battery package and I thank you very much for giving me the tip and all the other advice you've provided me over the past couple of days.

The ones I use are the S-8080A for Anton Bauer Gold Mount.
88Whr AB Mount version: http://www.swit-battery.com/new/english/productdetail.asp?ProductID=200492133432

If you prefer the IDX V-Mount mount, they also make 88Whr V-Mount versions: http://www.swit-battery.com/new/english/productdetail.asp?ProductID=2004829204324

They also make bigger batteries (7~8 hours?): 126Whr: http://www.swit-battery.com/new/english/productdetail.asp?ProductID=200492142823

190Whr (up to 11 hours?): http://www.swit-battery.com/new/english/productdetail.asp?ProductID=200492145235

The HD100 draws 17W of power, so divide the Whr rating by 17 and you should get an approximate runtime in ideal conditions.

I buy everything through my dealer.

BTW, this is the charger I have. Charges 2 batteries simultaneously!

I have my worries about a static adapter. If it has no grain, they are most likely using wax, which is not the most durable thing for a ground glass.
