When in February is this scheduled for?
I'm new to the forum. After reading all posts in the dv.com results thread and then skimming the 4-cam comparison thread, my eyes are bleeding. I probably missed the answer to my question in those threads so excuse me if I'm asking a question that's already been answered.
My Panasonic PV-DV951 transport and heads finally crapped out last summer. It makes for a lovely confidence monitor now. It was one of the first 3ccd 'prosumers' out there. Never was completely impressed with it but it generally got the job done. So, being in the position of needing a new camera, I figured it was a good time to invest in some HD aquisition.
At the time, I was really itching to jump on the HDV bandwagon but home remodeling was on top of the priority list last year. Thank god I had to wait. I think Barry and the rest of users on this forum have shown me the light.
P2 and DVC-PRO HD has to be about the best thing since sliced bread. No deck to buy...ever again. I'll get terrabytes of HDD for half the price of a deck and add a Blue-Ray HD-DVD burner to archive to. No heads or tape transports to clean, repair, or throw off a high building top in frustration anymore. Variable frame rate and 4:2:2 compression has me sold as well.
I'd still like to see the results from the Texas Shootout because I'd like to see if Barry can confirm the resolution specs. However, in the end, who cares? If the image looks fantastic, that's what really matters. It will pummel my old Panny.
