Texas Shootout Pt.2 at DV.com

Im sorry to say this but I think this test is just crap.

It starts by saying that the cameras were all set to lowest detail setting - except for the sony which needed help.

Thats like saying - lets pick an arbitrary setting for which some cameras look better and others look worse.

It invalidated the whole test. You either need to maximize a setting per camera or group of settings to get the best image OR you need to try to get the images to look alike - in which case you would not be showcasing what the cameras could do better than each other.

Silly silly test - just my opinion.

Any test that didnt show the HVX as the clear winner would be invalidated by this forum =o) Look at the test differently... there was no LOSER...

As for HDV? It was doomed from the start, just a temporary solution because there was not an affordable storage medium. That is why Canon added the HD-SDI out. I think MPEG will be around a while but probably at higher bitrates and not recorded to DV tapes...

ash =o)

I am not a "fan" of any brand.

I've had Sony's Canon's and Panasonic's camcorders.

I see it as a tool.

I am 100% sure that images from the HVX200 in the Texas shootout look anormally soft and muddy. very far from what the HVX is capable of.

This camcorder can produce much sharper images than those that are shown there.

Why do the Texas shoutout images look so muddy and soft ? I dont know...I'm curious...

A quick comparison of these images to images i've shot with the HVX is more than revealing.

I think that the XLH1 is sharper than the HVX.

But the HVX is capable of images way sharper and clearer, more vivid than those that are shown in the Texas shoutout. no doubt.

I've seen crisp detailed and beautifull images from both the XLH1 and the HVX.
