Testing Settings - Slate? Or Does Camera Record Settings?

Might be a silly question....

When we get our new EX3/Letus Ultimate rig first of January, I'm planning on shooting a lot of footage to get familiar with it. My question is, should I slate all my shots by writing them on a white board and shooting it to record my settings, or do the settings get saved somehow with the footage?

Things I want to test with are; frame rate, shutter speeds, maybe f-stop (I realize it won't record my 35mm lens settings).

You'll need to slate it. Or at least log it. When you get the footage into the browsing software, you can record the metadata from the log.
