Testchart with SgPro and HV20

hey,
im really satisfied with my new sgpro rev3, i use it with my HV20
and olympus om2 lenses. i shot the testchart with a 50mm 1.4lens at 2.8 (camera was set to f3.7 and 1/50s)

canon hv20 settings: 25p cinemode, cinegamma, sharpness +1, cotrast -1, brightness -1, saturation +1.
i raised the contrast and sharpned the picture in post.

im satisfied with the overall sharpness, What do u think?
but something is wrong with the left bottom,
i hope someone can help me! it was impossible to focus that edge and it has nothing to do with the zoom settings of the HV20.

regards, julian

Make sure the unit us aligned properly. Otherwise it may just be the inherent edge softness of the 50mm lens.

Do you guys mean camera to ground glass focus issue or lens to ground glass? Backfocus describes lens to ground glass and if that were the issue then the mount would be a little crooked OR the ground glass may be crooked.

If it were a camera issue I think it wold be more uniform.

Anthom, if you have a chance step outside in broad daylight and do this same chart, only this time two different ways:

1. With the camera wide open and the Taking lens down to 5.6
2. With the camera down to 5.6 and the taking lens at 2.8

If scenario one sees the corner sharpening significantly then your lens sample or the lens brand may not be optimal. A lot of still lenses exhibit very soft corners when close to wide open and do not "Sharpen up" or are not optimized until 5.6 and on.

If scenario two sees the corner sharpening significantly then it may be that your camera is misaligned with the ground glass or that there's simply atypical fall off in sharpness from the center to the corners. The only reason I am less inclined to believe that this is the case is because it's obviously softer in the bottom left corner.

That's just in cinemode too, it looks even sharper when set to TV mode.

i sharpned it in post that it looks as sharp as in TV mode and it still looks cleaner sharpned in cinemode than un-sharpned TV mode...

i think the groundglass is crooked, no matter how i mounted the camera,
or what lens i use, i couldnt get the lower left side in focus...
also when i dont attach a lens and focus the groundglass that part is out of focus....i dont think its the chip of my hv20, cause i didnt have that prblem with my brevis...

thanks for the tips Kholi,

i did what u suggested and those are the results:

the results show, that its a misalignment between the groundglass and the hv20 sensor...
i dont know what to do, no matter how i mount the camera, it wont get better...
