GH3 Test Yourself! Which is Which: BMPCC or GH3?

Okay. Here is a pretty cool test. Can you tell which one of these is the blackmagic pocket or the GH3?

Ready set go:


Graded quickly with Lumetri looks. One shot was adjusted to look as much like the other as possible.
 
1st shot GH3, 2nd BMPCC. In 1st shot the shadows were alive, noisy, 2nd shot they were cleaner (or that may have
been because of the change in exposure).
 
I don't get it. One shot was adjusted to look like the other? So your grading one shot to look like the other non graded shot? So we are not comparing apples to apples?

Not going to say which is which but asthetically I prefer the second shot.

im guessing this a trick question so i say the second is pocket for pure surprise factor and the possibility shot under and brought up to match. But the lack of details in shadows/highlights , that magenta skin tone and shallower dof in the second suggests gh3

just found out the answer. what a surprise =)

Why does the exposure change on the window, like someone clicked on a 6K outside the shop?
Maybe it's because of the almost same angle/FOV after the cut, but this looks somehow strange and not like more dynamic range.
You didn't use masks while grading, right?
Anyways, if those two cameras really can be matched that close, all the better for indie shooters.

I just saw that you were banned on EOSHD. I read the whole thread and you didn't come across as rude or anything like that. You helped exposed the hyperbole that a lot us (me included) are guilty with in terms of our opinions on imagery. I know you didn't get much support there so I just wanted to say that I thought it was a cool experiment and kudos for standing up for yourself in that thread.

Thanks for the support. Yeah, I feel the banning was unjustified. But hey - what can I do.

Now can you show us a real comparison? Its great to know you can pull such detail from the shadows with the Gh3. Its also good to learn about that plugin Reel Smart Motion Blur. So you got banned for embarrassing the owner of the website, things could be worse.
 
I have a BMPCC on preorder. Ill certainly do a comparison when it arrives. In the meantime, I thought I would do a GH3 latitude test with my 50D RAW and H.264
 
Fakery or not, the DR of the GH3 is narrower than the BMCC. What matters is how nice the picture looks. Every camera can shoot a nice picture if you meet it's needs.
