Test Your GH17 Lenin With This!

Hi everyone. I just hacked my 2011 GH1 using Ipowell's "40Mbps Reliable" settings. It works great, except I'm getting lock-ups on Crunchy's "chart of death" with a Transcend class 6 and even quicker lockups with a Transcend class 10. On the class 6 the first recording works, then if I try to record a second time, the camera locks and I have to pull the battery. The class 10 doesn't even attempt the recording most of the time, it just starts then stops. If I keep at it I can get it to record, but it's lockup city/battery pull time.

Here's crunchy's test pattern if you guys wanna try it:

Put your cam on a tripod and film this pattern. Make sure it is in SHARP focus. You can even film it off the monitor if you have a good LCD, but printing it is best.

This chart will make your camera spike to the maximum bitrate and stay there for the length of the recording. However, I'm not sure if it's the BEST test, since in "real world" conditions, I don't think this happens very often.

What do you guys think? Can anyone make repeated recordings of crunchy's test pattern reliably with their hacked GH17?

As far as the card speed issues, I wouldn't put much faith in transcend cards. I've got a few cf cards for my 7d and they fail pretty often. Maybe a bad batch? Who knows. And as far as never shooting stuff like that chart in real life? Ever try shooting grass or a wheat or corn field? :)

I had the 100 mb max latitude and it wouldn't record the monitor when the PDF was up. Just downgraded to the Native 24p B/L patch and it recorded. Oh vell....thanks for the test.

Actually, I tried shooting THIS scene today.

It stopped recording on me once, but otherwise it went okay. So I think maybe that chart is just flat-out tougher than any real-life shooting situation. Cause you can't get much more detail in a scene than this...
