Test shots - Your feed back is appreciated

What camera was this shot on? And what did you use to edit?

It was "shot" quite well, except during the first couple shots at the beginning, the lighting seemed a bit too dark. After that though, the lighting seemed pretty good.
I liked the part where the dad was like "...and make love to my wife" and the girl was kinda like "ewwww." Haha!

The acting was good. I'm not sure I understood the use of music, it seemed kind of random. The dialog kept you interested in what was going to happen next.

What was your set up; camera, lighting, audio?

Hey, TheComo here, from Ontario Eh?

Frenchy ;)

You want tough?

I really enjoyed this. Score was alright, could've been better. Neat story, and great acting. Some shots had to much head room.

It was really good all together, kept me watching!

used a dvx 100b, Freniel lighting. I was fighting the natural light like crazy. And I suck at sound score. Some bits we're good, others I would have chosen better. I have trouble making the transition from happy to intense or just picking what would be appropriate per the dialog. Any suggestions.

oh yea, sound was an okatava mic and used final cut pro for editing. Outside on the patio was crappy. A lot of ambient noise I had no control over.

Thanks for the comments, please keep them coming.

Ah...you used an Oktava. I have the MK012 on order. Was that the one you used, cause it sounded really clean. Did you use a boom operator, if so where did he position the mic to get all the actors sounding even and clear?

Is this going to be feature? the father and daughter work really well together, they have a good dynamic.

Yea its the mk012. We had a boom operator also. fiber carbon pole, aluminum makes to much noise. We also put on a round blimp and sock for the outside and only the blimp on the inside. The position of the mike was up to 3 ft from them, either above or below. Lots a work that boom pole had.

It's supposed to be a feature. Going slow though.

Thanks for the support

Well, it seemed a little "TV" looking to me. That may or may not be a compliment depending on your stance. I think it was the framing. That and the music.

You can also see the boom and such during the horseshoe scene. They show up in the reflection behind them while she talks to her Dad.

I liked the "Dad" quite a bit. Pretty good writing as well.

Cheers,

Mike

Thanks for that input both from Kyser and Jeffrey Hamlin. TV wasn't what I was going for. I don't completely understand the framing looking like tv, but the music, I do, these were quick test edits and I just pulled some sort of music that could fit quick, but wasn't really happy with the results. On the axis, your right, their in the wrong part of the frame. That's was a fundamental mistake I caught when I went to editing. It got away from, I think I had to much on my plate and it slipped by me. Thanks again for the input. I'm receiving it.
