Test of smoothness of iris of Lumix G X 35-100 mm

I made a quick comparison between the AF100 and the GF3 mounting the same lens on both cameras subsequently. The smoothness of the iris of the lens was much more smooth on the GF3 than on the AF100.

It seems that the 35-100mm lens has a step less iris, but the AF100 can not adjust the iris smoothly. What do you think?

I would really appreciate it when my AF100 could adjust the iris as smooth as my cheap DMC-GF3. Perhaps a new update could fix this.

By the way: Did you notice that this lens is not listed on the AF100 Support website? Does this mean that it is not fully supported by the AF100?

It works great, but it's not a video zoom lens. It's really a great stills lens that works with video. I use it as a variable prime. I don't get why it's so smooth with GF3. That's strange.

It looks like the GF3 does not adjust the iris during video recording. I looked into the lens while shine some light on it and the iris stayed always wide open. In the video, however, the brightness is adjusted, somehow. Perhaps by changing the ISO. I think the cheap camcorder do the same trick.

Auto adjusting the iris in a moving shot ( movies) is an ugly distracting effect whether it is smooth or otherwise. IMHO

Probably fine for home movies but not advised practice for anything of more consequence and certainly a nightmare for CC and gradeing of any clip.

A feature of the 35-100 mm lens, which is also distracting is that it changes focal length while focussing (breathing). I looked at the Panasonic Summilux 25 mm lens, but that lens shows breathing, too. Is there a lens from Panasonic, which is able to focus without breathing?
