Grabbed a minute of a pre-wedding interview I'm doing for a couple. Would like your comments, especially on the sepia bit. I keyframed the blur in on purpose.

I know, I know... it's a wedding. uuggghhhh. Creative soul sold.... but oh for a nice price. :-) Gotta save up for that anamorphic adapter.

It's 4.4MBs

PS - and no, the music is not licensed, it's ripped with abandon from a movie love theme cd.

Looks pretty good. All I would have to say is that a couple of the poses that you had them do were not natural and for some reason I kept looking at the poses and not the people. Basically, the poses did not bother me but they did distract me. I am not sure if anyone else will be able to see where I am coming from. Keep up the good work though...Looks good TOP NOTCH!!! All in all I would give it an 8/10...

Did you do the slow-mo in 24p or 60i? Some of the jerkiness I saw - i wasn't sure if it was a compression/playback internet artifact or a result of trying to do 24p slow motion (an issue discussed extensively elsewhere at this site).

From a cinematic perspective, I thought your shots were great. I was very impressed them. Some of them did sort of feel unnatural so instead of me thinking, "What nice shots of a couple" I sort of thought, "What nice positions the cameraman put the couple in." Don't get me wrong though, it had a nice feel to it and looked pretty professional.

Good work; I see what others are referring to in the POSING but I think you do a good job of cutting away from them; Kind of like "Oh, interesting pose.." then BAM! It cuts away.

Id almost suggest cutting away even quicker and not holding on those POSES long at all.

I love the Sepia/Blur. That was nice and your comps are very nicely done. That music isnt licensed? Really? :P :D

Good work and nice coloring. I say cut away quicker from holding onto to the POSES and all will be good.

I thought it was a very nice piece. Everything you could possibly do from your end, you done, and quite well may I add. Very good work.

Thanks all. Great feedback. This is just a test to see how it came out. I was pretty happy with the cameras performance, of course. I will keep the cut aways quick in the final product.

In doing this, my first interview, I found that I need to improve my ability to tell people what I'm after in each shot. I kept having to tell them SLOW DOWN when they were walking. And also, how do you tell them (especially the groom), "um... excuse me, but you're slouching very badly." So working with them was kind of a deal for me. Also, when we showed up, the facility had left a bunch of chairs and tables stacked right in the middle of the main part of the location. So we couldn't get a lot of the shots I had planned, and had to improvise. But hey, I think I'm gonna end up with about a 15 minute interview with some very nice cut away material.

Also, shot 24p, so slow mo was jerky because of that. I'm going to put a special filter on the final, but it takes so long to render, this is just FCP's generic speed change. Also, there was no color corr. on any of these except the sepia, of course.

Thanks again all,
Chico
