This is a practice test fight I shot in preparations for an action film I'm shooting in 2012. We shot this with no camera person and made up the choreography on the spot. Comments are very welcome and appreciated. Thank You.

Test Fight Sample For Feature Length Film

Just something for practice for my feature length film I'm shooting this year. Shot in 2 hours without a camera operator. Comments much appreciated.

What cam, speed, lens, iso? Did you offer craft service? How long did you edit for including score? Did you story board before? How did you settle on sound of the punches?
All in all I liked, felt the punches were a bit loud, at same time could be my speakers, keep up the good work.

Nice job. Only negatives I'd say, would be that the shots were too tight and the fact that the shots were locked off was distracting, particularly when you'd cut to different angles. Aside from that, very nice fight choreography.

ISO was 400, Shutter Speed 50, Iris was about 8. Lens was Nikon 50mm 1.4 lens. Edit was 2 hours and there were no storyboards involved. Thank you both for your constructive comments.

Fight choreography HAS to be worked out with a camera person, unless you and your actors are going full contact. Way too many "pulls" and "swishes" that were obvious.

Now couple what you have with good camera angles and framing, you might have something, and if you train your actors to sell that they are fighting.

Yeah, a camera operator adds so much to a fight. We were very limited with no camera operator and I agree with your comments. Thanks.
