Terrible Cell Phone Incident #45

No you know what that is, I think its my matte box, the Cintactics one, I think it got in the way, whats weird is, It didnt show up on my LCD screen, I filmed it in Letterbox and Im pretty sure its the exact same size when i captured it, I tried capturing in Anamorphic and I thought that might be the problem so I tried capturing regular and it was still there which leads me to belive i must not have had the matte box on all the way.
 
The vignetting is irregular looking, so I assumed it was added in post for a funky effect. Didn't really bother me.
 
I shot in India and Malaysia with the Cinetastics and got burned the same way. I am selling mine and going with something else.

Yes, that's the problem with the camera's LCD. It doesn't display the entire image. A real frickin pain in the a** and a poor design decision for such a great camera. Therefore, you need an external monitor to know exactly what you are capturing.

This may happen with any mattebox not just the cinetactics one. It's caused by the end of the mattebox coming into the field of view of the lens. This field of view changes with the zoom setting. Zoom in and it's narrow. Zoom out and it's wide. Since the LCD of the camera doesn't show all that is captured it's possible to adjust a mattebox so that it appears to be out of the field of view but is actually just within. Then you will have vignetting.
 
Ok honestly, I thought it looked really homemade and I didn't understand why the guy got electrocuted. It looked like he just dropped his cell phone in the toilet. My friend has done it twice believe it or not. Go easier on the CC too much here. Also get a better mic. Also switch it up. get some insert shots of him opening the cabinet. On a better note, the acting was fairly good and the analogy of the fat kid seeing the cake made me laugh. Keep it up it can only get better!
 
Actually the one we submitted has no where near as much color correction, But the file was about 100 megs, so i just put it back in vegas and messed around with Magic bullet and rendered this one and uploaded it to post it here.

Oh and yeah he got electrocuted from dropping his cellphone in the toilet, I understand this probly wouldnt happen in real life, but this is a joke.
 
I didn't even notice the mattebox in frame until the shaving scene... and that's after I read all these comments about it.

Haha it's silly... since when does a door ring like a phone though?
 
Hmmm.

It was very washed out. The dialogue was funny, I liked that, but the cell phone in the toilet, was not working for me.
