Temple Wedding shot on DVX

Re: Temple Wedding shot on DVX

Hey Mark.

I loved those slo-mo'd low-angle pans. You don't see those a lot in wedding vids.

What did you edit this in? FCP?

Re: Temple Wedding shot on DVX

That wedding video is not shot in progressive is it?

I checked out your site and like how you have it set up with some free teaser tips. Looks great.

Re: Temple Wedding shot on DVX

hey, just wonderiing how much you slowed down those super slow shots. they look amazing. good work!

Re: Temple Wedding shot on DVX

Thanks, I like to stay around 25%, 50%. 75%. Although for really slow I have been known to go as low as 10% and 15%. Frame Blending and 60i mode is a must for these shots.

Re: Temple Wedding shot on DVX

I liked the composition and editing. But almost all the clips looked oversaturated. Her dress was oversaturated on almost all the shots. I did notice as well incorrect white balance, because her dress had a mixture of white and blue in some shots.

Did anyone notice this?

All the best

Fidel.

Re: Temple Wedding shot on DVX

I didn't think there was a white balance problem. Nor did it come to mind that any shots were oversaturated. Who knows, maybe its the monitor or encoding.. Additionally, I probably was looking at it more like a "normal" female would.. not the white balance stuff first..

My favorite shot was of the two of them sitting on the steps looking up with the slow pan. that was very easy on the eyes. nice smooth camera work throughout. Very clean, crisp shots on what looked like a picturesque day. Nothing gimky about that. Nice romantic parts that didn't make you feel too mushy. I also liked the interviews.

Everyone has their own style...I try not to shoot much of the "photo" shoot, if I can avoid it. The bride and groom get these photographs-poses-images- later from the photog anyway. I will say, tho, when the composition and quality look that good, it's worth it too deliver that.

did you shoot this with an anamorphic lens? sorry if it's a dumb question, but obviously, I don't myself..

Lastly, I would advise you to watermark your work or do something to protect it. What are you encoding with? Its not just a matter of protecting your own work, but respecting the privacy/security of the bride and groom who are allowing you to share their video. It is not difficult to 1) collect cached .mov files 2) screen capture 3) repurpose images/video. How would your wedding couple feel if their images and movies ended up in someone else's hands? At least a watermark prevents a little misuse.

The font you used for the title was "Satisfaction," correct?

If I was the bride, I would love my video! nice!

Re: Temple Wedding shot on DVX

Looks good Mark we should calll you "Dutch" ;D What do you use for all the dutch shots to keep eveything steady?

Re: Temple Wedding shot on DVX

Thanks,

Lots of the locations were in direct sunlight so there are many overexposed shots, this was intentional so their faces were not too dark. The hue was turned up so the color was more romantic.

This was encoded with Sorenson 3 I belive. Yes, Satisfaction was used.

Most of the angled shots were to get away from the standard level shots that is seen everywhere. I get commented on them all the time. The Dutch shots are done by just holding and rotating the camera as still as I can.

Thanks for the feedback! The client was so happy they included more money for a bonus.

Re: Temple Wedding shot on DVX

hey the video is awesome. Did you obtain rights for the music? My freinds wants me to shoot his wedding video for him, I'm not sure if I can use the songs I want because its commerical. And I definetly dont want to get in trouble ...

Re: Temple Wedding shot on DVX

Awnser is No.

I would definitly gets rights to use music if you are going public. But you will pay anywhere from $1000 to $25,000 per song depending on how popular it is.

Re: Temple Wedding shot on DVX

Hi there,

I really like your work. Hope to get mine to the same standard! Weddings are always difficult to do, you haev one chance and one chance only to get a good shot, and good audio, and then still be unobtrusive !!!!

cheers,
- Derrick

Nice work Mark!

Everytime I see a new video from you it gets better and better! Your clients are getting the goods. Nicely done.

Is Riverlight Studios yours? I like the name.

Re: Temple Wedding shot on DVX

Very well done!
What audio equipment did you use for the interviews?
