If you don't want autofocus, you can disable it, right? but a a EF lens without aperture ring, i don't know. If you really need a zoom lens with manual focus and aperture ring, and it works in EF mount, the only way is a Nikon mount, the Tokina i have been told you can be found at ebay, example:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Tokina-80-2...08916773?pt=Camera_Lenses&hash=item416779e825

Other excellent option is the Nikon AF 80-200 f2.8, look:

For Canon EF do you will need a EF to Nikon adapter, even with focus chip confirmation:

Hope this help.

I have the non IS version - cost about $400 - I think its great for the price - at work we have a 2.8 version and it has no fans - its over priced, oves sized soft and falling apart - its probably about 4 years old and has been used daily

Sounds like it has lots of fans, it's used daily and as a consequence is falling apart :).... I have been wrestling with this one. There are so many other lenses I need right now.. I want the sigma 50 f1.4 .. Liking the sound and reviews of the Tamron 24-70 f2.8 VC.. Awesome spec... With those lenses on my shopping list in deciding on either the Canon 70-200 f4 IS or the Sigma 70-200 os, and I'm leaning towards the latter. My 5d mark 3 negates the f4 on the canon to a degree and I also like the build quality and weather proofing on the Canon. The fact that the Sigma is f2.8 just may allow for that extra bit of light when low light may be an issue.... Still undecided, it's a complete bastard of a decision...I could get the canon 70-200 f2.8 mkii, but for video, I think the sigma will do just as good a job...at half the price!!

I don't want to buy the f4 and wish I bought an f2.8.. If I buy the f2.8 I may miss out on the Canon superior build quality..

Thanks I feel worse having written my thoughts. Isnt writing your thoughts suppose to be therapeutic!! Damn shrinks!!

Most of our kit is in daily use, we would not go on any job without a medium tele - so they are all used all the time unlike for example a 400/2.8 which might only come out once a month

My business is video and stills - James was working for a local paper before he came to work with me, on news work the kit gets a battering, so I wanted to qualify the 'four years' statement, put in context when I was doing news in the 1990s my Sigma 70-200 was trashed after six months, my current nikon 70-200 VR needed a $500 mend after 3 years (which really p*ssed me off) I have two nikkor 80-200s that are in bits from earlier in my career, the canon 70-200 is plain wooly at 2.8

Now Im not a kit trasher, my nikkor 55 (manual), 50 (no focus motor) and 20-35 (no focus motor) have had the same hard use since the 1990s

My (non IS) 70-200f4 canon gets less use but is still as good as the day I bought it - for some reason I just love that lens

Overall Im deeply suspicious of VR/IS lens mechanisms (and onboard Focus motors) in terms of lens life, We have two 24-105s too James does the IS dance now being random activation of the IS, mine is however going great even though it has had a real hammering on car mounts and the like, the front element has significant wobble, I guess it will fall out soon but thats due to the extending design of the 24-105 unlike the engclosed and supported zoom mechanisms on the 70-200s
