I will be filming a rafting adventure in a couple of weeks. I have pre-ordered the Leica 50-200 lens to utilize on the GH5 with Dual IS and keep it small/light. I will be shooting from ahead when the gear raft is in calm water, and/or from the shore, relying on dual IS. This is a 100-400 equivalent so I should have some good reach. However, I anticipate sometimes less than perfect shots.
Project will be HD delivery. 60p will be conformed in post to 24p for slow motion. Internal recording to SD card. I do have v90 SD cards available if needed.
I am debating whether to film these shots in 4K 60p 8-bit in order to give myself the ability to punch in and have extra options for any need post stabilization, vs HD 60p 10-bit to give better quality and color.
External recording to Atomos will be out due to the nature of the trip, so no 4K 60p 10-bit. As well, I do want to film these in slow motion as I think the water, waves, facial expressions, action, etc. will look much better, and as well, the 60p will additionally help to smooth out any shakes or instability.
4K 60p 8-bit: Cine-D or Vlog if I go this route?
HD 10-bit, 4K 8-bit... Which would you choose/recommend, and why?
