Technique to shoot with tripod but make it look like it was handheld?

BTS from a gig so had to crop the image to avoid copyright issues.

In the foreground is a DIY "Airfloater" that just happens to be sitting on top of a dolly arm & is not in use. Believe this version was made from a small inner-tube. There are 3/8" holes drilled in the center of the plywood.

The dolly is being used to hang a camera, as described earlier.

Run & Gun, thanks for posting the pics of that Cartoni unit. I've been working on modifying the Modern spring head to include locks, which are very useful if one is utilizing these systems quite a bit (otherwise someone has to babysit inbetween takes, the AC's have a hard time working on the camera etc). Some smart stuff going on with that Cartoni, although it's a bit of a pain to have to trip three separate locks each time, especially the one on the far side of the camera!

The other two issues I'm tackling are getting the camera balanced quickly on the head (if you are right-side heavy, the camera will lean that way on the ball/springs) and getting the head to the sweet spot for a given payload (stiff springs/more air in the ball=great for heavy cameras, not for light ones).
