Production is ramping up on a short feature film that I will be involved with (editing/VFX) and to get some practice in I was going to go back to some old footage from an old school project and re-edit all that. That was when I came to my problem.
The footage I have is stored in the same way the footage is going to be delivered to me during production (raw *.dv files on DVD's). Now this wasn't an issue in the past because when I did the older project it was edited in Premiere Pro 6.5 which had a *.dv importer and all files could be just put straight in.
But now I'm running on Premiere Pro 1.5 and whenever I go to import this footage it comes up and says that the file type is not recognised.
:badputer:
The *.dv files still import correctly into After Effects but not Premiere.
-----
It is impossible for me to be able to capture the footage straight into Premiere due to hardware constraints (no camera/deck of my own) so footage has to be delivered on disc.
The only workaround I have at the moment is this:
1. Import DV file into AE and the render out a high quality *.mov
2. Import that into Premiere and go from there.
------
So does anyone have any suggestions on other workaround with this? or a method of getting *.dv files straight into Premiere? it just seems really strange to me that they can't be imported...
there's going to be alot of footage to process and the quicker i can do it the better...
cheers
