teaser up for my feature film.

I hope that was a teaser and not a trailer because it's not very effective but congrats on finishing an hvx feature though.

As a teaser it looks good, can't wait to see the trailer. Interesting choice of color correction, I don't personally like it, but it looks like it fits the material very well, and after all, it is your movie.

Keep us updated, looking forward to seeing more.

Hmm... Creepy.. looks like it could be great.. I'd rework your teaser, you need some content that "teases" me into wanting to come back and watch more..

Some footage thrown together in an odd way can do the opposite..

They do it all the time on HUGE budget movies.. It's amazing how seriously people take a movie trailer as being the MOVIE... Heck, I remember when TWISTER came out YEARS ago, and there was this shot of a tractor flying in the air, the SLAM! right into the camera.. I had chills, I was SOLD.. and the shot wasn't even in the movie.. and not one actor... how sweet...

Ya always gotta be thinking "what will other people say when they see this?"

This is not criticism, I think the footage looks great..

it's just a teaser, the music is only temporary as is the editing. I appreciate your honesty guys, but could you be more specific as to what it is about the teaser that was boring, and un-appealing? I'd love some more feedback so that I can tweak in order to present the film in its best lighht-thanks-adam

Thanks, I see your point guys about the jumble of images and no context, we're working on a trailer right now to correct the problem.-adam

Adam... nice looking visuals. People are always gonna give completely odd and strange feedback because they can.. and because it's not theirs. Ya have to stick to ya guns.. and basically my only feedback would be that I'd like to see more. I have shot a few things in this manner with subdued colors and high contrast and it looks fabulous.

Kind of has a grudge/ring look... now I hope it's a better movie than those which shouldn't be hard at all.. Hated them!

Congrats and stick to ya guns and you'll be happy brother... but yes, show us more and don't get caught up in having to have a VO and all that bizness. Probably the best trailer I have ever ever seen was from Buffalo 66. Now, that breaks all the rules and works perfectly!

I liked the trailer. I just wanted to see more footage.

Justyn, I have to agree with you about the VO thing. Some of the best trailers I've seen were just text and music with some random really cool scenes from the film it was about. "The Matrix" teaser, to me was a really good trailer and I wish they had only come out with that one instead of the full trailer. "Dark City" had a good trailer along the same lines of the music and text style. Personally I would rather just see trailers like this because I don't like the story given away.

I agree about sticking to your guns, I am however really close to the material as I shot and edited the piece, the temp music on the teaser is also mine so I just need as many outside oppinions as possiable. I want people to make suggestions about how the teaser could be presented better. I love the twister teaser btw, I paid my 5 bucks to see that poc because of that thing! lol.-rock-adam

I liked the first time lapse shot. I wasn't a huge fan of the color grading. I like my blood red.:) I think you can color grade and give your scenes the feel you're looking for, but still maintain the original colors.

I think with all the movies being made it's the story that interests me...so I would have liked a little hint as to what the movie is about. Either through text or dialogue from the movie.

The text "Sight" at the end, I thought it was too big, and too sharp. Maybe a little blur and smaller. And instead of a fade in, something more dramatic. Like the text being revealed through some fog. Something a bit creepy. That's my After Effects side talking.

I realize this is a rough cut so I'm just throwing out some ideas. And I know that this is web compresed and looks much better in full res. Nice work.

I am totally down with the Text at the end needing after effects work. I started doing that exact thing but I couldnt get the screen size right so I have been getting some ghosting artifacs. We are looking for a title editor for this reason and because I am not the best at after effects. lol. Also we are looking for a sound designer so anyone interested just let me know-rock-adam

oh and thanks for the critique.

Drew... You are so right about Dark City. That was the coolest trailer for a so-so movie. It was just so well done and didn't give anything away... just a mood and a feeling.

Mang... I just got done watching Hustle and Flow. Now those trailers and teasers for that film were awesome. Inspired and overall a badass indi feature. And also good to actually have a film with a happy ending. Life sucks for a lot of people but movies should give a bit of hope... they aren't real anyway so let's extend the fantasy a bit more... I like happy endings to my movies.. and my massages. LOL

If its a teaser you need to tease - a nice slow long shot of the guy walking with foreboding music - and then he turns the corner and quick flashes of some of the horror stuff -

something like that - its tells a short story with no end - makes people want to know what he saw - I dont know if that makes sense for this particular film - but just giving the idea.
