Teaser for music video.

Re: Teaser for music video.

VIDEO? Damn, that had me hooked from the getgo! I'm already thinking, what's he running from? Zombies? Gas? An ex-girlfriend who smells like ass on a stick?

That looks great. Keep us posted.

Re: Teaser for music video.

Hey Jester,

How about some info ?

Was it shot 24p cine mode etc etc.

The compression is'nt that bad - did you use cleaner then ?

I like the lighting from the lab corridors - gives off that nice sci fi medical green tinge like in matrix etc etc.
Did you do any post tints/color correction - or is that straight up dvx ?

cheers - post some more ;)

Re: Teaser for music video.

Well it was shot in 24pa w/anamorphic, cine settings, etc. Most of the color work was done in post. FCP4 running on G5s. The teaser is pretty much the start of the video, then we go back through and see what events lead to the guy running away....or something, we're not sure about a couple things yet. We just wanted to start something so we'd keep going. Overall I'm pretty happy with what we have so far. Still need to coordinate with the band and shoot a lot more. Though I hope to have a finished product within the next month or two. I'll be sure to post the finished product once its completed. Glad you like it.

Hey Jester,
Looks great. love the CC and the dolly shot on the last shot.
Looking forward to the final.

Re: Teaser for music video.

Jester,

What anamhorphic lens did you use ?

Did you use AE & magic bullet for the color correction ?

Cheers - I second that - looks cool - look forward to your final output :)

Re: Teaser for music video.

This vid looks cool! , i REALLY like the bit where he looks into the CCTV and you see the shot of the CCTV monitir as you slowly zoom out real nice!

One idea if i can suggest (just an idea mind you) is that maybe you could use some close up shots you know like really closeup sort of macro shots of say when he tries to open up the door so you see the hands and door handle, then intercut between the close up and wide shots, or another close up may be when he is running down the stairs maybe a close up hes shoes/trainers running past the camera in slow-mo maybe

He he i don't know, maybe i'm slo-mo fixated (damn then hip hop videos!!) :D

Re: Teaser for music video.

I have Panasonic's anamorphic lens, it works well once you spend some time with it. Even focusing is getting easier. The teaser was entirely done in FCP4. There will be other sfx shots in the video as well, those are being done in After Effects and Commotion. The zoom into the monitor is actually a dolly in...we all know the DVX can't zoom that slow ;D And the shot at the end is handheld. I just put a gyro under the camera to give it some more stablization. We also have a bunch of steadicam stuff that we shot for the final. Thanks again for all the input.

Re: Teaser for music video.

Jester,

one more 'Q' - if you dont mind :)

This is very simple but I dont seem to be able to get the fade ins or dip to color dissolves right - in fcp.
The beginning of you clip looks just the right sort of fade in I am looking for - on my current project - did you do that fade in on fcp or something else like AE ?

I know to all - this is a very simple thing to acheive but - I am only now getting into fine details & am starting to get very meticulous with effects & transisitons etc.
If I apply a fade in transition in fcp - its not the kind of cinematic fade in or flash I normally see on hollywood stuff but when I look at stuff here - people seem to be getting those effects right - so there must be alot more to it than just adding a fade in or dip to color dissove - maybe ?
When I apply the fade in - it looks glitchy - static & very cheap.
There is a fade in effect in magic bullet called optical which I will experiment with - but any info would be much appreciated ;D

Re: Teaser for music video.

Hey, all questions welcomed, that's why we're here right? I simply put a white matte over the first clip and faded it out quickly. If you use a short matte, like a half second of white, and fade it out over the whole length of the matte it will look like a quick flash. Hope that helps.
