Tearjerkers...

What made me cry about THAT movie was the complete travesty it made of "A Prayer for Owen Meany," one of my two favorite novels of all time.

LOL

HAH! Reading! So terribly overrated. You kids and your crazy books.

Just kidding. I'm going to look into buying that. Thanks for the reccommendation.

Hi, my name is Justin and I cry to good movies.

"Hi, Justin."

I just wanted to say the movies I cried to last were Forrest Gump, Shawshank Redemption, Saving Private Ryan, Road to Perdition, and any other Tom Hanks movie. The guy just does it to me.

Not a theatrical release but....

BILL

Starring Mickey Rooney; I was in 7th Grade. Messed me up like a little girl.

E.T.
Iron Giant
Finding Neverland
Treasure Planet
Man on Fire
The Incredibles
I could go on and on, but I'll spare you guys. I know some of them sound odd, but they get me good.

I'm echoing The Shawshank Redemption, Finding Nemo, The Road to Perdition, American Beauty.....hmmm.....interesting.....all scored by Thomas Newman.

The one that gets me choked up most of the time is The Shawshank Redemption--it's the reason that I want to direct. Sometimes all of the elements of a movie fall perfectly in place and the conflict on screen turns inward and touches the viewer in a place that is unique to each individual. For me it was The Shawshank Redemption. I get that feeling usually from reading a really good book, but occasionally, with the right movie, I tear up.

Other "moments" that made me choke up in movies were:

The daughter of Mel Gibson in The Patriot who is temporarily mute--but finally speaks before Mel leaves for battle.

James Garner crying in The Notebook...'nuff said.

Oh man! I had completely blocked that movie from my memory. Now it's back.

As far as moving on screen cries, how about Chris Walken in Catch Me If You Can?

Chris

yeah... Return of the King did it for me too. I had so many different emotions going on during that movie.

I didn't cry when I saw Titanic, but there was a teenage girl in the theater when I saw it who was sobbing like I have never heard in my entire life. I was genuinely concerned for her health.

Chris

this is my short list of films that has almost made me cry..

was really close on these ones.. really teary eyed..

The Last Samurai
Return of the king
Forrest Gump
Million Dollar baby

When a movie effects me that much... wow.. they are hard to come by...

another notable mention(s)

Saving Private Ryan
Cast Away

I haven't seen a bunch of the films listed, like Simon Birch.. but I am sure I could probably add a few more to that list after I had..

A Walk To Remember
It's a Wonderful Life
E.T.
The Family Man
Rocky
Cinema Paradiso
What's Eating Gilbert Grape
Green Mile

forever young last scene, old yeller, the champ, charly, red skelton movie forgot title about him and his boy trying to make a come back as a comedian, bad ending though there are so many

I am a sap... I cry all the time at movies. (Most of the ones listed that I have seen).

Gotta give it up for The Fisher King and Forrest Gump. My bother and I watch Forest Gump all the time and we both gotta get a Kleenex.

i cried at two movies

Grave of the fireflies
and
Terminator 2
when he puts his thumb up while dying it gets me. and the music is so epic. so sad why did you have to die t-800!

Forest Gump--I didnt cry the first time I saw it because the guy I was with REPEATEDLY tried to hand feed me popcorn and I wanted desperately to belt him with a right hook. So, I only appreciated this movie when I saw it later.

Braveheart makes me cry everytime.

And also, a silly movie I saw when I was a kid, but its the first movie that I can remember making me cry. The Red Balloon. I think it was a french film and I saw it when I was in elementary school.
