Has anybody on this forum experience TC drifting with the FS7 while in a jam sync mode?
With my f800 and EX3, I typicalyl jam my 788 mixer from MovieSlate on my iPhone. Only app I know of that sends an audible TC signal. Once my recorder is jammed, I then use the recorder to jam the f800 and EX3 and my iPad becomes a Smart Slate. We re-jam from the app twice a day and thus far have only been like a frame or so off.
However in using the same protocol except with the FS7, my editor tells me the FS7 is off by as much as 3 seconds. That's like 90 frames in my 30p world. Not acceptable. The biggest wonder was the EX3 was dead on with my mixer. I checked to make sure I had the TC on the FS7 set up right, DF, 30p, etc. Now I have to use TC boxes to make sure both cameras have the same TC as my recorder, which I know is the preferred method but it's more jazz hanging on. More wire to get in the way, etc.
So I did a test. I jammed my EX3 and FS7 from my iPad MovieSlate and set it up next to a radio clock with a sweep hand. Kept both the clock and the iPad in the frame for both cameras and shot about 20 minutes, stopped for 5 and another 15 minutes. Scrubbed each camera to the end of the clip and both were dead on. Wondering WTF.
But today when I turned both cameras on, the EX3 was still holding after two days but FS7 was like an hour off.
Wondering if the forum members have noticed TC drift with the FS7.
