I've used a Zoom H4N in the past, but it has always been on loan, so to reduce risks of not having a sound recorder when I needed it I purchased a Tascam DR-60D.
I have never used one before and as I went through the processes I am totally stuck on how to record. I've plugged a Rode Videomic into the 3/4 port (next purchase is a proper Rose Blimp kit), and using the supplied USB cable to power it (AA Batteries are also installed)
Rec Mode is MONO CH 1
I've not changed anything else except the time and date.
The Rode is turned on (does not require phantom)
I press record. No levels showing. I press record again to actually record. Still no levels. The audio files are empty. And I've adjusted the 3/4 knob with no luck.
Yes it is clear I am not a sound expert, and it is clear to me that I am missing some key ingredient. Can anyone advise me on what the issue is.
