Taping LCD to 16:9

How do you go about accurately taping the LCD to 16:9? Is it approximation or is there a standard measure used top and bottom? And is there a particular type of tape used for this?

Thanks.

Re: Taping LCD to 16:9

i would just connect my DVX to my NLE via firewire and output a 16:9 letterboxed image. open the lcd and tape it according to this. i don't think the kind of tape would really matter, but you could try even using a transparent or semi-transparent tape in order to see what's hiding in your "would be" cropped area. you could also use the internal letterboxing via the camera setup menu, but apparently that is slightly innacurate when compared to true 16:9. i doubt the small size of the LCD would really discern between the two though... after all taping your LCD is an approximation any way.

haha yeah, the name actually came from my dad... "boy, go take out the trash/clean your computer area/etc." it just sort of stuck and everyone now calls me by it. a bit of useless info for everyone haha.

Re: Taping LCD to 16:9

there is a lengthy thread about this with templates somewhere on here...

i use the clear overlays that are intended for palm pilots to draw the overlay on, easy to find at comp usa etc, anywhere they sell palm pilot type accessories.

Re: Taping LCD to 16:9

thanks!

that is the post i was talking about. i keep meaning to take that illustrator template and make a new overlay for my lcd, i especially like the 1/3rd grid markers, it helps to frame the shot with actual 1/3 markers vs. imaging it.

i should get a giant sheet of that static clear stuff and put the same 1/3 markers on my sony monitor. it already of course has the 16:9 and underscan.
