Tapes Damage Heads

I was told that you should use only one brand of tape (ie Sony, Panasonic, Maxell) and not go back and forth. If you don't the chemicals of different brands mix and screw the heads up. Is this true? Or can I use a sony tape one day and a panasonic the next? Thanks guys.

Some people get away w/ using different tapes, but it has something to do w/ panasonic using dry lube and sony using wet lube. It gunks up on the heads. I don't ever mix, and I think most people would tell you to stick to one tape.

You can mix the tapes but then you would need to clean the heads between every switch of different tapes. They all use different lubes etc. plus you risk with dropouts during important project.
Why bother?
For DVX - go with Panasonic AYDVM63PQ or MQ and stick with them.
It prooved to be the best so far so...

Cheers
