tape transport problem

I've had my DVX100A for about a month and a half, only shot 5 hours on it. Everything worked ok. Prepping for a shoot I put a tape in and got a blue screen with this message: Auto Off / Loading Lock. I tried 2 other tapes, same message. I'm using the recommended Panasonic tape. So my dealer (Birns & Sawyer) said to ship it off to a warranty repair shop in Washington state, which I did Monday. After reading many posts I discovered there is some kind of Panasonic facility in Hollywood. I wonder if they could have fixed my problem quicker. My question is this: has anybody else had this problem or is it just very bad luck for me? :-[

Re: tape transport problem

I have the same trouble with the loading message and i just used it 4 hours. Now the dealer called panasonic head office and they don't know what the problem is and they don't want to exchange this brand new camera.

If you have any feedback let us know please.

Thanks.

Re: tape transport problem

If your camera is less than a month old you should be able to exchange it at the dealer's store. Mine was just a bit older than 1 month, so I had to ship it to the warranty repair shop in Washington state. They are fixing it now. If they deny that this is covered by the warranty then you have to do something else, like complain loudly to Panasonic headquarters or government agencies. This absolutely is covered by the warranty.
