Tape Transfer

Hey everyone, I know this is probably a no brainer question but I thought I would ask it anyway. I have to transfer a few tapes because I want to keep a copy of them for myself before I send them off to the editor. I was wondering if I just did a dub from camera to camera (or camera to deck) that this would be full quality and what not. My instincts say yes but I thought I would ask first. Thanks everyone!
 
you can use 2 mini DV cams and get a 4 pin to 4 pin firewire cable and you can make great copies with no quality loss.
 
RCA's will not give you an exact copy, but the quality will be ok, getting the 4 to 4 pin firewire is worth the small investment. I don't think the timecode copies the same but the video is outstanding. RCA cables will have some quality loss.
