Tape question

I am having some Super8 film transferred to miniDV. I gave them a PQ tape to transfer to because that is what I use in my DVX100B. If they used a different camera, like an XL2, to record the tape, would it be bad on my heads if I captured it in my DVX?

Certainly wouldn't be bad.. In theory you could get a little residue from their heads and different tapes and such onto your PQ tape but I highly doubt it would be an issue.
 
An old trick from my analogue days; you could always ask them to run a couple of minutes of tape through the cam as leader to gather any dirt off the heads before they actually start recording the program material and ask them to FFWD the tape to the start of the program before they hand it to you.

This is my biggest fear when I have to do editing jobs from client supplied tapes.
