Tape missing warning continues to flash when tabe is loaded

Hey all,
I have a DVX100A and in the display screen the red cassette in the upper left corner continues to flash even there's a tape loaded. I tried swapping batteries, tapes, hitting the reset button, power cycling the camera, all to no avail. The owner's manual says "This flashes when the cassette tape has
not been inserted or when it has been set
to the recording inhibit mode." I googled "recording inhibit mode" but couldn't learn anything. I do clean the heads from time to time with a cassette cleaner. The camera could use a good professional cleaning. I was hoping that someone had an idea that I could try as I wanted to shoot today.
If someone has any ideas please call me at 703 593-3592 or email me at info@mowermovie.com.
Thanks a bunch.

All dv tapes have a small slider on them which when slid from their normal position allows the hole they were covering to be revealed. When the hole is uncovered, it prevents overwriting any information on the tape. A small metal pin in the camera is able to enter the previously covered hole on the tape and as the pin enters at the same time closing a switch and electronically telling the camera to inhibit recording.

Either your "recording lock" slider on the tape is in the locked position or the switch in the camera is glopped.
