Lately, it sometimes happens that when I load a tape into my DVX, it has some problems getting ready to record. Sometimes it grinds away at the tape for a long time, making back-and-forth whirring noises; other times, the display flashes back and forth between "rec" and "pause" indefinitely. So far, either waiting a LONG time or power-cycling the camera has helped this, and I've not yet hit a day when I just couldn't get it to record, but I'm getting a bit nervous about it... it seems to be happening with increasing frequency.
It never happens once I get it to begin recording; it seems I can pause or power down the camera without the problem recurring as long as I don't put a fresh tape in.
Anyone have any similar experience or insight into what this might be?
