Hey folks,
We had a shoot recently, well, more of a pickup/re-shoot for a film that is currently in post, all shot on the DVX-100A. Unfortunately, some of the footage didn't seem to quite match that of the original shoot - I had guessed that the shutter speed was off, but our DP assures me that it was set to 1/48th.
I've captured a bit of footage, and it was all shot at 24P-Advanced, and is coming over to Final Cut fine. Unfortunately, we're still seeing a bit of artifacting, and the motion just looks OFF. Any ideas? Oh, the other thing is that the rental house we got our equipment from screwed us on tapes - we asked for Panasonic MASTER quality tapes, they gave us Panasonic PROFESSIONAL quality. I didnt' think that would severly impact the image itself, but merely the longevity and overall toughness of the tape itself. Is it possible that the subtle noise and artifacting could be caused by an inferior tape? (we're not talking a SEVERE ammount of artifacting here, like I said, it's more subtle). Anyhow, I ran a VERY minor motion blur effect on the clips in question to attempt compensation for the inequities in the footage - and it worked a bit, but I was curious if anyone had a better idea for that one.
The other thing I wanted to bring up is the 55mm suite of plug ins available from http://www.digitalfilmtools.com - there are also some other packages available, like Digital Film Lab, Composite Suite, and zMatte. I've been using a bunch of plugins from www.nattress.com, and have been quite happy with them, but I wanted to get an opinion on this new package before we drop the dough on it.
Thanks folks,
Kristoffer
