Tape glitch? is it dirty heads?

So I lent my cam to a good friend today to record an event where he works and this happens. Out of 40 minutes of recording it happens once only on this spot. I have had the same thing happen during two of my shoots. Is it dirty heads? I clean mine as per the sticky thread from barry and this problem only happens rarely. Not sure what's happening.

Malfunction clip 600 kb...Tiny file

Please help if you know.

PS The noise is nasty so lower the volume on your audio card...

Thanks, I got one with the camera but use it sparingly as it can damage the heads if overused. It did not correct the problem in the past. I use isoprophyl alchohol and deer hide swabs now, but the problem seems to persist. I'm wonering why, if it's dirty heads, the problem only happens one time in 40 minutes? Thanks for your reply though.

I'm wondering if the tape transport/ pinch rollers are in need of a clean and if maybe some bits of debris from those are periodically breaking loose and rolling across the heads. Does that make sense or am I overthinking this?

I spoke with a panny repair tech a while back and he told me the cleaning tapes are for emergency use in the field only and should be used sparingly as they can cause premature death of the heads. Wether or not this is true, I have to take his word for it. I am going to go with the idea that it's true as a precaution.

I was just about to start a thread about "what cleaning head tape" to use because i too need to clean my heads. Is there a specific cleaner tape i should purchase, if so could someone link me to one on b&h? Or, can i simply buy ANY "dry head" cleaner tape from my local video/drug store?

Thanks. As for it causing a premature death of heads, i find that hard to beleive. If you used it propperly when your heads are actually dirty, i cant see it causing much harm. But if you played it for hours, sure. lol.
