Tamron SP 150-600mm f/5-6.3 Di USD, EF or A mount?

Considering the Tamron SP 150-600mm f/5-6.3 Di USD lens.

Since it doesn't come in E-mount, for use with Sony cameras such as A7 series, A6000, FS700, would adapter the Canon EF version via Metabones mIV adapter be the way to go? Or Use the Sony A mount version and adapt it with the Sony A to E adapter LA-EA3?

How do you think this lens would do for photos and video? I expect manual focus would be required.

On the FS7 it works with metabones mark 4 (slow AF, lens data ok).

I think it is better for photo than for video. But it is a lot of lens for the money, so if you don't use it often it is OK for video.

Thank you.

I've never used a lens that big before. On little cameras such as A7x or A6000 obviously you mount the lens to the tripod and the little camera is on the back. But with a larger, heavier camera such as FS7 or FS700 is it safe to mount the camera to the tripod and let the lens support it's own weight mounted on the front?

No I would not do that. I think the lens mount will break.

But with tripod with big plate it is possible to support both.

The lens will become longer at 600 mm so you have to maintain balance by moving the base plate.
I use an aluminium plate to support it (base plate was a fraction too short).

Publimix, thank you!
That's what I was concerned about. Looks like we both have the same tripod head. Mines a monster I don't use often due to weight but looks like I may use it with this lens. I have that same base plate so I'll try it with my fs700 and see if it works and then figure out an extension plate like you use if it's also too short.

Total Tamron, Fs7, and tripod combination = 13 kilo = a million pound I think. :lipsrseal

It is not a warm weather combination for two reasons:
- you will sweat a lot while carrying this combi
- the distortion from warm air will be a limiting factor

But it has a nice 'Sir David Attenburough look'

Haha! Yes. And it also looks like you are carrying around a bazooka!
