Take f3 on a plane- which case?

I found that if I put one in a pouch on my belt they don't count it as a personal item or a bag. :) I don't like checking lenses either.

Yeah, that is a proven method!
I usually travel with various lens/accessory pouches on my belt, have my khakis on (with numerous pockets all around) and place most of the smaller items (including lenses) all around my self. The big sucker (70-200 or 50-300) goes on the back of the belt, covered with "casual" sweater or a jacket. If I travel in summer time my line for having extra clothes is "oh officer, this is because I can't stand all the air conditioning On the plane...":lipsrseal

+1 for carrying lenses on you, since some airlines in Europe check more the weight of a bag, than it´s size. You may have a samll enough carryon, but the weight limit seems to be around 8 kilos, so when I´m over, I just put two or three lenses and some batteries in my foto west. After boarding they go back into the carryon...
