"Tainted Love" Music Video *WARNING NUDITY*

I was impressed enough by this video that signed up to DVXuser to say "thanks!". I agree that the nudity was subtle and in good taste. Again, Thanks!
 
wondering about the night stuff exterior...did you just go to well lit areas on streets or light? it looked pretty good....what was your shutter at? you said you shot 720/24pn ? was the iris all the way opened?
 
The iris was all the way open and the shutter was at 210. Most of the spots we went too had some light except the front of that club where the two girls meet up.

Actually, the song was originally performed by Gloria Jones in 1964.
 
Not sure if its an official remix. All I know is that I couldn't find it on the internet and had to get it from the director.
 
Way too predictable… Firstly I’d throw the whole linear story process out the window… and edit to the soundtrack.. shots are lingering because of content.. forget it and just go for the action..

Also needs allot of treatment… firstly I’d vignette the whole thing to add a sense of drama.. secondly I’d look at some filter set’s from 55mm (or custom create some palates).. beach by pass and some blue tint’s heavily shaded…

I reckon it’s just too clean for the song.. would also look at DE Cine effects to try and get some film look with skipping frames as if the sprockets have come loose.. also some weaving in the gate to still frames…

Also I’d look at defocus allot of the footage and possibly layering some scene multi times with varying levels of opacity and blur…

I think you’ve got a good base to work from but just need to pick up the pace…

In some way the story lends itself to a super 8 home movie voyeuristic view at it…

(not really a very good example but there is a bit of de-focusing in this clip {ps. this was done it 2000 with a Sony TRV900 shooting behind a stills camapign none of the shots were set up for the video camera)...

Lez, I didn't write the story. I just shot an edited it together. Sorry if you found it to be to predictable. Personally I like videos that tell a story because I get really tired of people just yelling into a camera and jumping around.

As for the look of it I tried some different looks in Shake but I really like the footage that came out of the camera. It has a warmth to it that the story needs. It just sets the wrong tone with the bleach by pass look that you were talking about.

Also what are you talking about that the video is too clean for the song. For the first re-mix that MM did I would say yes. But this version is much more mellow and slower. If I did any of those effects that you were talking about it would be really out of place. I like those film type of effects but not for this video.

The DOF in the video is all I really needed. Again I think it would be out of place because none of the video is suppose to be disorientating. If it was someone on drugs or something like that, like in that first clip that you posted. Then yes I can see where that effect would be useful.

I think the video could be edited a little more but I like where it is right now.
 
No problems... just my 2 cents.. I just kinda feel that the story can be told in various ways.. and still let the viewer know what your trying to say...

As I said before, the version that was on the video is really hard to find. I think it might have been a special European release thing...not really sure.

I appreciate the info. I just wasn't sure with it being commonplace to have someone remix for an additional release outside of their own album. (In this case, for "Not Another Teen Movie.")
 
I don't think MM re-mixed the song for "Not Another Teen Movie" in that video he did. I was talking about the song in the video that I posted if they was some confusion there.
 
Hmmmmm.....Like the colors, mood for sure, not quite sold on the acting from the 2 females. I watched it about 113 times.....I may need to view it another 113 before I can offer my opinion. :happy:
 
Wow usually "Movie soundrtack" Music videos Suck cause they usefootage from the movie, i liek that they shot a whole new video.... thats actually kinda awesome.
 
i really dugg the ramping effect with the music... the shot of the girl smoking looking out the window in the yellow room is amazing.

and also anything that has Skoobys hot dog in it gives me joy. BEST FRIES IN LA...NO JOKE!!!!
 
I'm glad your such a big fan of the video Scotty. Believe me it was an interesting shoot to say the least.

Nomadic, I've never eatin at Skoobys. We just shot out infront of there and the girls had some of the fries. We were trying to shoot from the outside looking in at the girls but it was packed inside and we were wasting time. But I think the outside shot works just fine. Glad you liked the ramping effect.

This was all run and gun type of stuff, which is really the only way I roll.
