Tablet or mouse?

Want to link to the one you are thinking of getting?

I'm using the new Magic Mouse and I think it rocks!! I recommend it if your System can use it.

I got a bamboo a couple of years ago, found it to be too limiting and exchanged it for a 6x4 Wacom Intuos. It took me a couple of days to get used to it but I love it.

You like the magic mouse, huh? May I ask why? I've been using a standard wireless mac mouse but I'm wondering if there are better options. Thanks much!

I like the magic mouse because it intelligently works in FCP. I had bought a jog wheel device thing for $600 (which I returned)... the Magic Mouse does the same thing by just scrolling over the surface. Works on basically everything in Final Cut if you want to use it. Really the Magic Mouse is basically a mixture of a laptop mouse and a wireless mouse.

It took no time to get use to and it's now the best mouse I 've ever used. This may be common to others(as I had used the one click mouse for years), but using the internet I can scroll up and down by scrolling on the mouse, and quick two finger swipes forward or back replaces using the back/forward button.

I'm thinking of this one:

I'd suggest this one instead: http://www.wacom.com/bamboo/bamboo_fun.php

The larger work surface makes things much easier. The Bamboo Pen is just too small. If the multi-touch functions aren't something you want, get the Craft which is the same tablet without the touch functions.

I use the Fun for FCP, ProTools, and PhotoShop. It makes things much easier and much more intuitive for me.

Great information to consider. I think I'll steer clear of the bamboo pen and check out the magic mouse or Craft...thanks all for the replies-most helpful :)

Eventually I'll get an Intuos 4 to replace my Intuos 3. It can take a little while to get used to using a pen+tablet, but once you find your comfort zone you'll rarely use the mouse again.

I had a small wacom for a little bit, too limiting because of the size (and that was before i picked up a 30" monitor).

I ended up buying the 12" Vistablet on amazon... does exactly what I need at a fraction of the price of the wacom. I love using the tablet and I don't even have a mouse connected anymore.
