The only other DSLR that I owned was a GH1, now please correct me if I am wrong. The GH1 does not use an actual mirror which is why you can shoot video in any mode and when you take pictures it is silent.
The T2i uses a mirror so it actually flips inside of the camera creating this sound?
This is just my educated guess, please someone help me here as I find this sound truly annoying.
