T2i 50mm Canon Plastic Fantastic vs Leica Summicron at F2

Here is my first T2i test footage: 1080p 29.97 ISO 100, 1/60, F2, kitchen lighting, auto WB no tripod (on counter). All footage is raw straight out of the camera.

Any thoughts on the footage would be helpful. The canon lens breathes much more and the focus ring is wanky as hell. I wouldn't trust it for a rack focus. I actully bought it for a kick around lens for stills. I wanted something with autofocus and you can't beat it for $90. The leica has a much more dampened focus and thus you can rack much more smoothly.

Yeah I've seen some great (photographic) work done with the plastic fantastic. I actually like the slower rack a little bit better but I can see how it must have been difficult.

These images look nice. You have a bright kitchen.

When you use a manual lens on the 550D/T2i do you first have to set a menu option similar to"use without lens", or does the camera just get the message from a lack of lens communication and you're good to go without any setting? Thanks.

I was holding down the camera with 1 hand and racking with the other, so I don't pretend that either shot is well done. I mainly wanted to show that the T2i footage looks great, it is super fast and it still doesn't really matter how nice your glass is outside of speed and handling.

I have a chipped adapter so it doesn't need another button push. I think the t1i would warn me that there was no lens attached come to think of it.
