DC rocked one out during the LA HVX meeting last week, and it seemed cool so i went yesterday and picked one up. Pretty impressive device. Push email , well, pretty much kicks ass.

Does anyone else use these things? the one thing i noticed is that DVXuser is not so good on little 320 pixel screens, so I was wondering if it would be worth setting up a profile for handhelds.

My bro has one... never really appealed to me cause of the tiny screen... I am not too worried about mobile email anymore either... I usually have plenty of places to find Wi-Fi to link up to.

I have a Cingular 8125. I had a sidekick 2 and this is a lot better, in my opinion.

It runs Windows Mobile, but it's pretty much a sidekick.

Has camera and everything, the web browser that it comes with is ten times better.

Here's a link: http://www.cingular.com/8125_consumer

I upgraded my space to 1 gig, though I should've bought a 2 gig card for video and such. It rocks.

And if you set up a mobile DVXuser... I'd go nuts. I get on DVXuser on my mobile all the time, literally. Like, when I'm at the grocery store or riding in the car passenger seat. It takes a while to load because of the sigs and banners and such, but it's not that bad at all.

I'm behind the curve, but I'd definitely use a mobile version of DVXuser when I upgrade to a PDA-type phone.

Dunno. I'm sure it's better than the second Sidekick. I guess I have to go and check that out too, but I have Cingular anyway. =P

I've been reading DVXuser on a PDA on and off for a year now...

Oh I SO wish for a 'lite' version for mobile users, the curent version takes far too long to load. I allready asked for one about 5 monthes ago.

I'll be happy to help develop/design/beta if you want/need some help Jarred.

A guy I know has one of those, and keeps an awesome dof calculator on it. Very cool.
I used to use that program when I had a PDA.

I just got a Samsung T509 from Tmobile. It's the thinnest phone on the market in America- it's crazy. Usually I don't go for the 'hip' phones, but I was due for an upgrade and this was the only one I liked.

A mobile profile would be great. For now, I can get by with the "scroll around" mode on my PDA.

I love PDA phones. I don't see why more people don't have them. There are so many tools for music playback, music creation, video playback (yep, just about every format), as well as astronomy tools, games, etc. that are pretty impressive.

My bro. used to have a Sidekick.
Sidekick + Google = many weeks of 1st place trivia night at the local crappy restaurant!

Hmm well in Japan the mobile has had push button email for sometime and I use it about 30 times a day ... no SMS here either.. everything is email dependant. Makes sense to me. There are phones here so small you could fit it in your wallet but they arent very popular at all being that so many people use their phones for email. At last check you could take a 4megapixel photo on newer phones but that was about 4 months ago. i mode version websites are also pretty common here and really are getting hit a lot these days. Thus is DVXUser had a mobile version I would certainly use it a fair bit.

I used to have one...but i sold it to my sister. The speed of accessing the internet is really good, I liked mine when i had it..no problems for me, but your right about this site. The screen becomes congested with all the tables.

I think it would be really cool if you set up a mobile version of the site. Instead of having all these tables set up, just put all the threads on a big list.

I lost my sim while on vacation, so I haven't had a working cell phone in about two weeks.

I can't eat, I can't sleep, I'm biting my fingernails all the time. I feel like I'm having a nervous breakdown.

Oh. Wait a sec. None of that is true except for the no cell phone anymore part. :)

what is the name of the software?
There's a bunch of them. Just seach "depth of field calculator, PDA."

As for phones in Japan, they are just insane. They've developed one with such advance GPS software inside it that you can literally point it at a building and get the street address and phone number. But they haven't gotten it small enough to be viable as a marketable phone yet.
