Hi Guys!

This is my Current System: (which works fine with HDV on CS4)

Mobo: ASUS M2A78-EM AM2+ (w/ ATI Radeon HD 3200)
CPU: Athlon X2 4400 (2.2Ghz, Dual-Core)
Memory: UMAX 2 x 2GB = 4GB DDR2 RAM

Upgrading with:
Phenom II X4 940 (3.0Ghz, Quad-Core)
NVidia GeForce 9800 GTX Graphics.

1. Is this Update good for native editing of AVCHD?
2. Is this graphic card has capability to accelerate AVCHD Editing?

Please explain if something wrong!
Thankyou!

Yes, the Phenom II X4 940 CPU is a good chip for AVCHD editing. ( The Intel i7 CPUs are a little better, but this is probably not an option for you ) I upgraded from a Athlon X2 4600 to an Intel i7 920 CPU specifically to be able to edit AVCHD video. It was a huge increase in speed for me.

To my knowledge, I don't think there are any NLEs that will take advantage of the GPU to accellerate AVCHD editing.

Sorry to hijack, but would this include the workstation class of graphics cards as well (i.e. Nvidia Quadro)?

I'm not an expert in this area. Does anyone know of any NLEs that will utilize a consumer or workstation GPU when editing AVCHD files ?

Well, I am too interested in Geforce 9800 GTX. :-Dum(DBG):

Is anyone using this card?
How well does it perform with AVCHD?
And what about other geforce 9 series cards?

I've been using Premiere Pro CS4.1 on my laptop (C2D T9300, 4gb RAM, GeForce9500M GS on Vista 64) for about a month, and it has reawakened my love of the HMC150. Editing has become fun again! Encodes still take between 1.5 to 2x as long as the length of the clip, but it has been nice to be able to edit footage taken out in the field (with footage being read from a external usb 7200rpm drive, with the output being written to the internal drive) . At times previewing a sequence can be a bit laggy, but that probably has more to the application of effects than anything else. I'm sure a quad-core desktop would have even less complaints about the setup.
