System Error - P2 Micon Error

I know this has been talked to death but my situation is different than all the ones I've read. This error message appears while I'm filming. So I turn off the camera and turn it back on and the camera is completely frozen, no buttons work and it won't even allow me to turn off the power so I have to pull off the battery. After leaving the battery off for a while it will work again when I reattach it but in a short time it happens again. So the P2 portion of my HVX has become completely useless and unreliable. All the reading I've done has people experiencing this error while dumping footage, but mine occurs while filming or while sitting in camera mode between shots. Can anyone help???? My HVX is only 2 years old, I've had it since new.
 
soory to hear. WOW..something is faulty in panasonic...

From my research i found that the System Error- P2 Micon Error...has to do with a problem in the comunication between the P2 reader (inside the camera) and the camera. Some people have fix this by just by cleaning and reseating all flat ribbon connectors in the top-pcb part of the camera. Others mention a replacement of the P2 reader inside the camera by panasonic service.

So, I guess you could take it to pana service or try to open it up and play clean ribbons. Could be just a hair on dirt stuck in some pins.....

Thanks for the advice. I'm not sure if I'm comfortable taking apart my HVX so I'll have to look for a place that will. Not sure that it would be a dirt or hair issue though. I have a 64GB and a 16GB card which gives me more than enough recording time so I never remove the cards for any reason, I haven't taken them out in over a year. I guess it could still get dirty perhaps.
 
Uhhhhhh.........did you said you haven't taken your cards out tof the camera for more than a year?........that might had been your problem, its no good to leave cards in camera if not using...no even for a day...... no good....

Went a said dirt I was talking inside the camera...the camera has small opens where small dirt could come inside...also water..moisteir..ect.... I opened mine following this link and it was no a problem..but if you have $$ and pana service around..you can take it to them..


Its a shame this is happening...for whatever reason..

Five Stones - Did you get this problem resolved?

I have the same problem, camera went to Japan for fix last fall but problem returned, or was never fixed, on my first shoot. I have put my cards in other cameras, no problems, and put other cards in my camera, same problem appears.

I haven't been able to do anything about it this winter as the camera is being used on SD projects which the tape drive can handle. Although that really sucks once you are used to the convenience and instant record start of the card.

Very depressing and I am cursing ever having left the reliable embrace of Sony products.
